A NEW SERIES This is the first entry in a new Fully Equipped Series, where we’ll review and share (details) on maintenance recommendations for specific types of machines. User Manuals sometimes get filed away where they’re tough to retrieve, but you know as well as we do, that maintenance on these big machines is much more than just changing the oil every 100 hours of use. So we thought it might be helpful to do a series on these machines and, over time, build up a handy archive here on the pages of Fully Equipped. There’s even a full video on this one (below), and a full checklist you can download at your leisure.
WHEN DUCT TAPE WON’T DO… Nothing pokes a hole in an otherwise productive day like a leaky hydraulic hose. And whatever miracles the stuff might perform throughout the rest of the universe, you know Duct Tape just isn’t going to cut it. (Hey, leave that stuff for the family car!) …Of course, we kid, BUT: for the machines you use to run your business and serve your customers, there’s just no substitute for a full-length crimp, total-pro hose repair. At Martin Implement, we’re happy to let you know, we’re now doing those repairs in-house.
WHILE YOU WAIT, WE REPAIR We’ve recently procured a state of the art, Parkrimp hose repair machine. This beauty enables us to restore almost any hose to like-new look and capability. Most repairs can be accomplished in 30 minutes or less. So if your skid steer, wheel loader, or excavator needs a perfectly crimped new hose, bring it on in to Martin Implement — and scan our magazine table! — while your hose is remade to perfection.
Note that there are a few specialty hoses we’ll still need to send out, but the Parkrimp will very likely be the answer for your leaky hose. (If you have a unique hose, just call us and we’ll let you know if we can handle it.)

Brent was appointed Parts Manager for our South Elgin dealership in mid-June. You may already be familiar with him over the course of his 30 year tenure in the equipment industry. Brent got a jump start on his career while still in high school by working the parts counter at DeKane Equipment, where his father was a business partner. It wasn’t long before he worked his way up to become both Parts and Service Manager for the dealership; experiencing the progression of the equipment industry over the span of three decades. Jim came aboard as a Parts Associate at our Orland Park location just as February was coming to a close. When he first began working in parts back in 2011, Jim will readily admit that he had a considerable learning curve to familiarize himself with the industry. Fortunately, he jumped at the chance wholeheartedly and was able to quickly earn the trust on his employer, who promoted him to a regional sales rep, and later as store manager.
