Meet the Martins is a chance for our friends and customers to get to know our company a little better. It serves as a means of putting a face to our organization. In this segment, we’ll head over to our South Elgin service department and meet Wayne Stover.
Out of all the staff at Martin Implement’s South Elgin facility, no one has been around the (Ford) New Holland equipment line longer than Wayne, which is a testament to his work ethic and ability to please customers. Fresh out of high school, Wayne landed a mechanic’s job at Payline West in 1981 and later progressed into the Service Manager position; a title that he’s held with Martin Implement since joining the team in 2009. While Wayne’s equipment repair knowledge is vast, it’s his ability to relate with people and explain things in understandable terms that customers most appreciate and look forward to whenever a service issue leads them back to the dealership.
What do you enjoy the most about Martin Implement? Every day is a new challenge when it comes to working on different equipment and interacting with customers.
What’s been the most unique piece of equipment that you’ve had in for repair? A crawler machine for drilling, that hydraulically would unfold for use and refold on the trailer.
What beneficial service does the department offer that customers might not be aware of? People would benefit by taking advantage of our $99 maintenance inspection to possibly catch a problem ahead of time.
Best customer advice: Keep equipment greased. Keep radiator and oil cooler area cleaned.
What’s your favorite way to unwind outside of work? Golf, spending time with my girlfriend and getting together with my neighbors.
