Kobelco is introducing its new SK210 Mark 9 excavator and it’s being billed as the most productive excavator in the 21-ton class…so what’s so different about it? A quick look over the machine specs gives us a simple answer: a lot.
First off, the Mark 9 employs the Tier IV Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology that we touched on in a previous post about DEF. SCR translates to increased power with better fuel efficiency. While making use of that increased power, an operator can take advantage of Kobelco’s Power Boost™ and Heavy Lift features, which increase breakout force on command and increase lift and swing capacity, all with no time limit.
Intelligent hydraulics utilized in Economy mode allow for increased fuel efficiency and the Mark 9’s Intelligent Total Control System™ gives the operator greater control by providing power exactly where and when it’s needed – an important feature when tasked with fine grading or leveling.
In the cab, a new control monitor and rear camera are at the operator’s fingertips and an optional air-suspension seat gives the operator command and comfort in one place.
